    Would that be "the Swan with two necks at Pendleton" ?

    That's it Gerald. There's an annual fell race starts and finishes at the pub. It's organized by Clayton Harriers. A notice in the pub says that it should be called the swan with two nicks. The second nick being the nick of pendle which I suppose must be visible from there. Cheers! Gwilym
