SURVIVORS
the ex-gamekeeper
an octogenarian
with gray-less black hair
recalls the ball of lightning
hover outside his window
never reaching ground
it suddenly exploded
masses of water
his wife is on the toilet
the bang nearly frightens her

I actually saw such a strange ball (a blue one) in Blackburn and it was shortly after a big thunderstorm over Haslingden Moors Old Roman Road near Darwen area. Pickup Bank I think it's called. It was that night when York Minster got struck.
